Washington Park

Welcome to Washington Park

The Washington Park Neighborhood or “Wash Park” is located just south of the Denver Country Club and is named for the large park in the center of the neighborhood. Wash Park is arguably one the most active parks in Denver with a constant stream of joggers and walkers looping around the crushed granite jogging trail while bikers and rollerbladers zip around the interior asphalt loop. The middle of the park is filled with tennis courts, basketball hoops, fields for organized and pick-up sports, and a public rec center with an indoor pool.  There are three bodies of water in the park, Grasmere Lake, Smith Lake and Lily Pond.

The majority of homes in Wash park are brick bungalow-style homes built in the early 20th century, although in recent years, many original homes have been scraped and replaced with large, new, traditional homes or have been “pop-topped” to add second-level for more square footage.

Although the majority of the neighborhood is residential and most activity centers around the park, Old South Gaylord is a popular retail area in the southeast corner of the neighborhood with many independent shops and restaurants. In addition, Alameda Avenue cuts through the north end of the neighborhood offering residents a convenient gas station, Starbucks, bars and restaurants.
